UAW 2865 is hiring a Membership Engagement Coordinator to join its lead staff team. The Membership Engagement Coordinator position is integral to developing and maintaining the institutional structures necessary to support a dynamic, member-led union. The Membership Engagement Coordinator will act as a central resource for leaders and organizing staff as well as ensure that day to day operations run smoothly and efficiently. UAW 2865 is looking for candidates who are passionate about social justice, detail oriented, committed to public higher education, and eager to work with member leaders to give them the tools needed to organize their workplace. 

Responsibilities:

  • Take leadership over implementing and maintaining smooth and efficient backend operations to support a robust member organizing and worker representation program;
  • Organize and maintain the 2865 Berkeley office, including management of office supply inventory;
  • Manage records, including grievance and contract records;
  • Process employment paperwork;
  • Document storage and maintenance;
  • Manage general email accounts;
  • Ensure availability of organizing materials for staff and leaders;
  • Manage the onboarding program for new leaders and staff organizers.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and writing)
  • Ability to work independently with a strong independent work ethic
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with worker representation and collectively bargained agreements
  • Flexible working outside normal business hours, ability to work in the evenings and weekends as needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Proficient with Google products such as Gmail and Google Drive (docs & sheets)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access databases (preferred)
  • Previous union or other political or community organizing experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of union or non-profit budgeting and financial best-practices (preferred)

Work Environment:

This position is in-person at the Berkeley office. Offices are shared among employees and member leaders. 

Compensation: $81,000. This position is covered by a Collectively Bargained Agreement.
