Donald Trump’s administration has announced new rules beginning June 11th to limit Chinese student visas in STEM fields to as little as a single year. Previously, most visas were issued for the five year maximum.
Already since Trump was elected, Chinese graduate students at the University of California have been experiencing delays renewing visas, leading to disruptions in work and school schedules.
Many members of our union will be affected by this unfair and xenophobic policy, and it is important to stop it before it gets worse.Â
