California is currently vaccinating people who are part of Phase IA (healthcare workers and long-term care residents) and Phase 1B “as supplies allow” (workers in agriculture and food, emergency services, and education and childcare). The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines specify that any university employee (including GSRs, TAs/GSIs, Tutors, and Readers) is considered a worker in the education sector.
Some Academic Student Employees have been contacted by campus administration about receiving a vaccine on campus, while others have received no information. To be notified when you are eligible to be vaccinated and about appointments available near you, go to the California Department of Health’s My Turn webpage:
Some SRs have reported success obtaining vaccine appointments via the Vaccine Finder website:https://vaccinefinder.org/search/
Students with external funding can get a vaccine eligibility form signed by an admin or PI.
If you currently or will soon work in person, or are otherwise a member of a high-risk group, please be proactive in searching out information on when and where you can get vaccinated. If you have new information to share not yet reflected on this website, or have difficulty accessing the vaccine, please reach out by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Vaccine Access via Walgreens
Some SRs have reported success obtaining vaccination appointments via Walgreens. You can sign up for a Walgreens account via this link and receive email notifications (typically around 9AM) about vaccine availability based on the current guidelines in your county.
Volunteer with a UAW vaccine outreach drive
If you would like to volunteer with a union drive to educate and reach out to eligible people across the state who may not know how to access the vaccine, please fill out this form.
